Join us in making Harrisburg a cleaner and safer place to live, work, and play! Our cleanup areas include Allison Hill, Uptown, and Midtown. Last year, with over 200 volunteers, we disposed of 4,620 lbs. of trash and recycled 399 tires!

Multiple volunteer positions are available at the cleanup!
Litter Picker: volunteer to pick up litter at a site | Time needed: 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Site Coordinator: sign-in volunteers at a cleanup registration site, distribute equipment, and hand out snacks | Time needed: 7:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Truck Driver: transport bags of litter to dumpster sites and distribute water to litter pickers. Must have your own truck and valid driver's license. Please bring your driver's license the day of the event. Must be able to lift 15 lbs. | Time needed: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Dumpster Monitor: transfers bags of litter from trucks to dumpsters. Do not accept bulk items. Must be able to lift 15 lbs. repeatedly | Time needed: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Check-in Locations:
Allison Hill: Tri County Community Action, 1514 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104
Midtown: 329 Harris Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102
Uptown: Wesley Union AME Zion Church, 5th & Camp Streets, Harrisburg, PA 17101
* Check-in for litter pickers, truck drivers, and dumpster monitors starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 8:30 a.m. You MUST come to the check-in site to sign-in and pick up equipment the day of the event.
* Site coordinators are needed at 7:30 a.m. to help with set up and prepare for check-in.
* After the event you must return to the check-in site to drop off your equipment and sign-out.
To register for this event:
1. Click "Respond" or "Respond as a Team." If you're registering as a team, please continue reading and see the instructions below for additional information.
2. Fill out the "Opportunity Response" and you're registered! To verify you are registered, look at "Respond," which should now be replaced with "Unregister."
3. Please share the GHLC on social media using the pop up after registration or by clicking the black share button next to "Unregister" to help us have the greatest impact on our community!
If you are registering as a TEAM, please follow these instructions:
1. Every team needs one designated team leader. If you are the team leader, click "Respond as a Team," answer all the questions by clicking the yellow warning sign under "Questions," and reserve spots for the estimated number of people who will be on your team.
2. Send out the custom link for your team to your team members by clicking your initials at the top of the screen and then clicking "My Teams." After that click "Manage Teams" and you can copy the link for your team and send it via email. On your team page in your profile you can see the names of people on your team to verify everyone is listed.
3. If someone responds individually to this event and you do not see them on your team list, email sgarvey@cactricounty.org and I will manually add them to your team. You can also manually add them by clicking "Add Member" on your team page in your volunteer profile.
4. If you are not the team leader, please respond to your team leader's email or respond individually to this event by clicking "Respond" and include your team name in the "Notes" section of registration.
