The Sunflower Fields community garden provides residents with their own garden plot to grow their own food and flowers. This provides local food security, enhances individual health and ensures a supply of fresh, sustainable food to the community residents.
This is not only a way for residents to stay healthy, it also enriches the community life in Sunflower Fields.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals or groups looking to make an impact in their local community!
Volunteers are needed to:
- Assist with garden chores like tilling soil, planting, weeding, turning compost, and watering
- Build and maintain small structures and fencing within the garden area
- Organize tool and garden shed
- Help clean garden plots and transform them into more attractive spaces
- Tidy up mulched spaces between garden beds
- Transfer plants and spread seeds in the meadow area
- Plant trees and shrubs in the food forest area
